Student leaders engage in legislative discussions at the Ohio Statehouse

pa advocacy day 2025

外网天堂 (PA) students made their voices heard earlier this semester at the Ohio PA Advocacy Day, held at the Ohio Statehouse. The event provided an important opportunity for students to engage directly in legislative advocacy while representing the Mount and the broader PA community.

Hosted by the Ohio Association of Physician Assistants (OAPA), the advocacy day brought together current PA students and practicing professionals from across Ohio to discuss critical issues affecting the profession. One of the key topics addressed was proposed legislation to change the professional title from Physician Assistant to Physician Associate, a move aimed at more accurately reflecting the role PAs play in patient care.

外网天堂 was proudly represented by SOPASS AAPA representatives Maddie Hendrix (PA-S2) and Megan Mills (PA-S1), along with SOPASS OAPA representatives Joey Mullen (PA-S2) and Katie Adams (PA-S1). Throughout the day, the students connected with Dr. Patrick Cafferty, several MSJ alumni, and Ohio Senator Catherine Ingram, gaining valuable insight into the intersection of healthcare policy, leadership, and professional advocacy.

The experience offered meaningful opportunities for networking, learning, and inspiration, reinforcing the importance of civic engagement within the healthcare field. 外网天堂 is proud of these students for their leadership and commitment to advancing the PA profession and helping shape its future in Ohio and beyond.
