We are pleased to announce that the November Pride of the Lions Award goes to staff member Joey Moore!

Pride of the Lions: Joey Moore

Joey earned a B.S. Degree from Shawnee State University, in 2017 and, although relatively new to her role in the Advising Resource Center, she has already established herself as a passionate advocate for student success. She teaches multiple FYE sections and actively contributes to the FYE curriculum. Joey is also a very active member of the Lions Alert team and has been working with many of our student athletes.

Joey’s joy, humor, and authentic care create a welcoming environment in which students feel supported, valued, and often leave with a smile.

In addition to her role on campus, Joey is currently pursuing a Master’s in Social Work, at the University of Pikeville. As part of the program, she is completing a clinical internship in the Wellness Center, where she brings her strengths of Perspective, Humor, and Kindness to her case management and GROW Coaching work. She recently designed and delivered a powerful mental health presentation for all FYE classes, focusing on anxiety, stress, and academic distress—an effort that made a lasting impact on our first-year students.

Joey has quickly become a highly valued member of our community. Whether she is supporting students through advising and coaching or cheering proudly at campus athletic events, her commitment to student success is always evident.

Please join me in congratulating Joey Moore on this well-deserved honor!

Sincerely,

H. James Williams, Ph.D.
