Biography:

Swati Chopra is a communication design practitioner, educator, and researcher whose work spans typography, data visualization, UI/UX, brand identity, packaging, editorial design, and human-centered design. She serves as an Associate Professor of Graphic Design at 外网天堂.

In 2026, Swati received the S. Adele Clifford SC Award for Excellence in Teaching and Student Impact, one of 外网天堂’s highest faculty honors. She was recognized for her student-centered teaching, mentorship, commitment to experiential learning, and impact on student success. She was also named the Mount’s 2025–2026 SOCHE Faculty Excellence Award recipient by the Strategic Ohio Council for Higher Education, an honor recognizing excellence in teaching, scholarship, service, and dedication to student success across member institutions.

With over 15 years of professional experience, Swati has collaborated with startups, cultural institutions, healthcare organizations, and global corporations. Her professional work includes design collaborations with Johnson & Johnson, Boeing, Jack Rouse Associates, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, and GuestBox. She also holds seven granted Boeing design patents.

At 外网天堂, Swati founded Design Hub, the university’s faculty-led, student-powered design studio. Through Design Hub, she mentors students as they work with real clients, develop professional design skills, and build portfolio-ready outcomes. Modeled after a professional creative studio, Design Hub connects students with campus partners, community organizations, and external clients, including national and international collaborations. The initiative has been recognized for advancing experiential learning, strengthening student portfolios, and helping students translate classroom learning into professional practice.

Before joining 外网天堂, Swati taught at the University of Cincinnati, including DAAP and the Digital Media Collaborative, while also designing for Johnson & Johnson’s Medical Devices instructional design team. She earned her B.F.A. in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design and her Master of Design from the University of Cincinnati, where she was a Yates Scholar. Her thesis, Managing Uncertainty: Self-Care Tools for Enhancing Student Learning Experiences in the Design Disciplines, received the DAAP Cares Award. Her work on AntiOD, a project aimed at expanding public access to anti-overdose medication, was named a finalist in Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas in the Health & Wellness category.

Swati has published multiple research papers and continues to integrate scholarship with design practice. Her teaching emphasizes human-centered design, creative problem-solving, professional readiness, and mentorship, helping students develop distinctive creative voices and industry-ready portfolios.
